How to Write a Paper: An Interview with George Whitesides

The ACS recently published Episode One of a series of interviews meant to help teach people how to publish scientific papers. This first episode is an interview with George Whitesides, who gives very practical advice on the process of turning research into publications. He makes some terrific points, including: You can't learn how to write a paper by reading books on how to write papers and papers are part of the research process itsself, and not a separate endevour to begin once research has concluded.

FOM Focus Group

The FOM (the physics arm of the Dutch scientific organization, the NWO) recently solicited a new program focusing on research in energy. They awarded only two of these "focusgroepen" (Focus Groups) and we are part of the only one awarded to a University. Our program, entitled "Next Generation Organic Photovoltaics" is a collaboration between researchers in experimental and theoretical Physics and Chemistry based entirely within the Zernike Institute at the University of Groningen.
